C. A. Robinson

After serving four years in the Unites States Air Force during the Korean Conflict, C. A. Robinson enrolled at Louisiana Tech.  During his college years he worked in the summers as a roustabout and roughneck on drilling rigs in the Gulf of Mexico.  C. A. graduated from Louisiana Tech University with a degree in Petroleum Engineering in 1957.

Immediately after graduation in June of 1957, C. A. worked for two years and a half as a petroleum engineer for Magnolia Petroleum in Salem, IL.  He then worked for Kingwood Oil Company for eight years first as a Division Engineer and later as a Division Manager.  He next worked in Evansville as a Manager for Lohmann-Johnson Pollution and Operations Co. and Temple Operating Company from 1967 to 1969.  In 1969 C. A. started working as a Petroleum Consultant and an Independent Oil and Gas Operator.  C. A. later became a drilling contractor when he formed Indiana Drilling Company.  At one time Indiana Drilling was running three rotary rigs in the Illinois basin.  C. A.’s other companies include Robinson Engineering & Oil Co., Inc. and Indiana Petroleum Contractors.

C. A. is a registered engineer in Louisiana, Kentucky, and Illinois.  He has been very active in the Indiana Oil and Gas Association, having held the office of President for 10 years.  C. A. has also been very active in the Society of Petroleum Engineers, having held the office of President of the Illinois Basin Chapter and he was inducted into the national SPE Hall of Honor.

Robinson Engineering & Oil Co., Inc. currently operates four storage fields, as well as, one natural gas transmission pipeline and related compressor station in Indiana, and one storage field in Illinois.  In addition it operates over 300 oil and gas wells in the tri-state.

C. A. has been instrumental in many oil & gas developments in Indiana including the discovery of the Owensville North oil field and the development of the Mackey field, as well as, the Paxton West gas field.
